Finale Party Tips To Impress Your 'Friends'

POSTED: 1:55 pm EDT May 4, 2004

If you want to throw a "Friends" finale party that even Monica would be proud of, boy, do we have tips for you. Just make sure you don't lock yourself out of your apartment while cooking, and make sure there are plenty of coasters on hand. Water rings on the furniture are so "yesterday."

Menu:

  • Do's:

  • Order pizza. The best "Friends" choices include the Joey Special (two pizzas) and the girls' slumber party favorite, which is fat-free crust with extra cheese.
  • Sandwiches. A Joey favorite.
  • Coffee, latte. Served in Central Perk-type coffeehouse mugs.
  • Onion tartlets. Your guests will make yummy noises.
  • Find Monica's snack recipes at NBC.com's finale party guide.

  • Don'ts:

  • Flan for dessert. It didn't win over anyone at Rachel's birthday party.
  • Kiwi-lime pie. An allergic reaction over this pie sent Ross to the emergency room. You don't want to take a chance with your guests.
  • A glass of fat. Rachel didn't make Ross drink it; therefore, you shouldn't make your guests drink it.

    Guests:

  • Do's:

  • Invite five friends, then you'll have a group of six. Remember, six "friends" always have a good time.
  • Gunther. Although nobody is really friends with him, he always manages to get an invite to parties.
  • Special guest stars. Celebrities are always popping by the "Friends" places; why not your place?

  • Don'ts:

  • Do not invite anyone with an annoying, nasaly voice. Example: Janice and her "Oh My God" would deter you from hearing every last memorable line from the show.
  • Do not invite anyone distracting. Example: Ugly, Naked Guy would ruin your party and your viewing of the final episode.

    Games:

  • Do's:

  • Play the "Friends" trivia game, or "Friends" junkies -- and you know who you are -- can make up their own questions and stump everyone but the diehards.
  • "Friends'" charades. Check out Ross's game at NBC.com's finale party guide.
  • Predict the ending. Have your guests write down how they think the show will end. The closest guess wins an Emma toy.
  • Have a foosball table on hand.
  • Play poker. Just make sure there isn't chocolate on your 3 to make it look like an 8. Right, Joey?

  • Don'ts:

  • Joey and Chandler's Fireball game should not be tried at home. Remember the burned oven mitt?
  • Cups. Chandler's buddy game to help Joey actually left the out-of-work actor penniless in the end. Plus, the rules are ever-changing and will just confuse your guests.

    Prizes:

  • Do's:

  • Make your friends T-shirts with the finale date. Find an iron-on decal at NBC.com's finale party favors section.
  • Give a goody-bag including coffee samples, and packages of tissue. Your guests will need it for the tearful, final farewell.
  • Send them home with a slinky. It worked for Ross when he tried to apologize to Rachel with the retro toy.

  • Don'ts:

  • Don't post a Troll doll to a 2 X 4 piece of wood in an attempt to make a trophy. Why not make your own Geller Cup?
