Call 3 Problem Solvers: Bride Reunited With Dress

Vega Elated To Get Gown Back

Six weeks after a bridal shop closed, the Call 3 Problem Solvers helped create a happy ending.

Bridal Boutique, in Citrus Heights, shut down without warning Memorial Day weekend, leaving brides scrambling to find new dresses, and one woman hoping to be reunited with her old one.

Tawnee Vega got married seven years ago. Her mom took her gown back to Bridal Boutique last winter to have it preserved as a surprise birthday gift.

But her mom said surprise turned to shock when the shop shut down.

Vega said she thought she was never going to see her dress again.

That changed on Wednesday when a van from Wedding Gown Specialists in Chico pulled up to Vega's home with her dress.

The Call 3 Problem Solvers learned Bridal Boutique was keeping its merchandise in a storage facility.

The Association of Wedding Professionals worked with the owner to get the gown back to Vega.

The preservation company cleaned and preserved it for free.

It has been only six months, but it's like Vega is seeing it for the first time.

Slipping on white gloves so as not to damage it, her hands were shaking.

Vega said she knows a lot of people would probably say it's just a dress, and that it's not a big deal. But it is so much more than that to her, she said.

She said the dress is a symbol of commitment to her husband and an heirloom to hand down to her daughter.

She said it's like her wedding day all over again, and she may even put the dress back on to complete the happy ending.

Vega said she also wants to thank the Bridal Boutique owner for making this possible.

The Association of Wedding Professional said the owner is planning to liquidate her inventory to try to pay back some of her debt.
