SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The 4-year-old daughter of Sacramento Kings player Ron Artest is being treated for cancer.

Artest told The Sacramento Bee that his daughter, Diamond, complained of stomach aches, and that's when doctors found the cancer.

Artest is currently playing with his team, but making trips back to Indiana to see Diamond.

Artest said Diamond has a cancerous tumor in her kidney, also know as a Wilms' tumor.

Coach Reggie Theus said the team is behind him, and Artest knows that the Kings organization is supporting him.

Diamond has had surgery and has started chemotherapy, Artest said.

UC Davis pediatric oncologist Dr. Theodore Zwerdling said all cancer cases are challenging to treat, but that this type of cancer has a 90 percent curability rate.
