Stockton Ranks Last In Literacy Study
Researchers Focus On Newspaper Circulation, Bookstores, Other Factors

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Stockton ranked last once again in a study ranking tne nation's most literate cities.The annual study, conducted by Central Connecticut State University, rates the nations 69 largest cities, or those with population of 250,000 more.Stockton ranked 69th in the latest survey, 70th in 2006 and 69th in 2005.
The study focuses on six key indicators of literacy: newspaper circulation, number of bookstores, library resources, periodical publishing resources, educational attainment and Internet resources.Research was conducted in collaboration with the Center for Public Policy and Social Research at CCSU.More Resources:
