EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. -- An El Dorado County schools worker who was arrested Wednesday on charges of child molestation said she is a hugger, not a molester, and that the allegations are false.Trina Rodriguez, 30, of Folsom allegedly touched some students in an inappropriate way, sent sexually explicit text messages and showed them explicit videos and photos on her cell phone."It's been upsetting and I don't know what to do. I'm not that type of person. I don't know who would bring these allegations up against me. You know, my mom's had a stroke and I'm trying to take care of her. My dad and my brother know that I'm not that type of person. Even my neighbors around here can know. And I don't know who would bring up all these allegations but all of them are false, so I don't know what's going to go on," Rodriguez said.
An investigation determined that Rodriguez had five victims -- three girls and two boys. The videos and photos showed pictures private body parts and were very explicit accoridng to reports from the victims, Sgt. Brian Golmitz saidThe inappropriate touching allegations stems from a hug -- she allegedly hugged a student's head against her chest.Rodriguez said students hug her all the time. She told KCRA 3 that one of her friends sent her something inappropriate and she opened it in front of the students.Rodriguez also denies having any explicit text messages, and said something was sent or forwarded to the wrong person.Rodriguez worked in the El Dorado County Office of Education as well as in the extended care programs on the Lake Forest Elementary School and Silva Valley Elementary School campuses, the department said.
Authorities said she was released on a $50,000 bail. The Office of Education said it did a background check on Rodriguez that came back clear. But KCRA 3 has found through court records, and confirmed through the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department that Rodriguezfaced a Sacramento County Court Judge in February, 1998 for cutting checks having without sufficient funds to cash them. The charges were ultimately dismissed.Anyone with information on the case should call the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office at 530-642-4715.
