OROVILLE, Calif. -- Immediate evacuations have been issued to 12 homes because of a fire that is raging near Oroville, officials said.Erratic winds have caused the Craig fire to make a run east, resulting in immediate threat evacuations to homes located at Mills Ranch Road.Approximately 75 structures are being threatened by the blaze.
The five roads under immediate threat include: Cedar Tree Lane, Mills Ranch Road, Onyett Road, Kanaka Ranch Road and Island Bar Hill Road.The blaze, which started Sunday, has destroyed 2,500 acres and is currently 20 percent contained.The fire has destroyed a barn and mobile home.Precautionary evacuations were issued for Cochise Road, Crystal Ranch Road, Blackhawk Trail and Toyon Hills Drive.An evacuation center has been set up at the Church of the Nazarene in Oroville.The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.Full containment of the fire is expected Aug. 10.
