EL DORADO MYSTERY

'Lots Of Twists' Discovered In Mystery Killing

No Motive Discovered, Police Say

POSTED: 10:00 pm PDT August 5, 2008
UPDATED: 10:36 am PDT August 6, 2008

Latest developments -- including the discovery of bits of brain and a blood trail -- in the case of a mysterious killing, have led police to believe the death of an El Dorado man happened at a separate location than where his body was found.

On Tuesday, KCRA 3 obtained the search warrant and affidavit involved in the case against Patricia Presba, 47, and Jaime Ramos, 21, who were accused in the death of Presba's husband, Ron Presba, who disappeared more than a month ago.

The discovery of a plastic bag containing blood, brain matter, skull fragment and human hair have led police to think that Ronald Presba was killed at a different location and not from a vehicle crash, police said in the written affidavit.

Burned human remains -- which police said they think are Presba's -- were found in June in a charred sport utility vehicle.

The warrant states that numerous items were broken in the Presbas' house and phone lines were cut, indicating a possible struggle, police said.

Both Patricia Presba and Ramos were found Friday in Salt Lake City.

Authorities in Salt Lake County, Utah informed the El Dorado County district attorney and El Dorado County sheriff that the defendants will not waive extradition.

The district attorney is seeking to extradite both defendants from Utah.

In an interview between investigators and Patricia Presba that took place on June 25, Presba said she bought a vehicle for Ramos, who left for Texas after the car was purchased.

Police said Ramos was living with the Presba's at the time.

Patricia Presba and Ramos were formally charged with murder in connection with Ronald Presba's death on Wednesday.
