2 Trials Ended In Hung Juries

UPDATED: 6:40 pm PDT August 12, 2008

A babysitter who was accused in a baby-shaking case has been deported to Mexico, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Tuesday.

Veronica Salcedo faced two trials after being accused of shaking Roseville toddler Hannah Rose Juceam to death in 2006. Both trials ended in hung juries.

Placer County prosecutors said they didn't think they could convince another jury that Salcedo was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

She was deported on Aug. 7.
