Indoor Pot Farms Found In Big Homes

6 Arrested In Marijuana Sweep

UPDATED: 7:28 pm PDT September 16, 2008

Six people were arrested Tuesday in connection with indoor marijuana-growing operations in big, well-maintained homes in El Dorado Hills and Placerville.

Gordon Taylor, special agent in charge with the Drug Enforcement Administration, said warrants were served at eight locations. Marijuana was found growing at two of the places that police searched.

Police also served warrants in Cameron Park, Placerville, Lincoln, Sacramento and Elk Grove. At least some of those arrested are related, authorities said.

Many indoor marijuana farms have previously been found around the capital region in empty tract homes. But this round of sophisticated operations were located inside large, occupied homes.

Police said they found 797 marijuana plants when they raided a mansion at 349 Arches Ave. in El Dorado Hills. Two adults and a child were living there. One person was arrested at this home.

Agents said they also found 507 marijuana plants at a home at 888 Maria Vista Way in Placerville. Two people were arrested at this house.

Police said the homes raided on Tuesday appear to be linked to a family based in Sacramento.

The six people who were arrested Tuesday were identified as:

  • Tony Quy Le, 51, arrested in Lincoln
  • Hung The Le, 45, arrested in Elk Grove
  • Minh Vinh Le, 31, arrested in Placerville
  • Tien The Le, 42, arrested in Sacramento
  • Cuong The Le, 39, arrested in El Dorado Hills
  • Wan Fang Fu, 27, arrested in Placerville

A past group of indoor marijuana farms was tied largely to another group based in the Bay Area, authorities said.
