A local alternative energy company announced Wednesday that its wind technology has met requirements to connect to the power grid.

Marquiss Wind Power of Folsom said Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District recently approved the connections.

"We look forward to partnering with many businesses and government agencies in Northern California to deliver an affordable alternative to traditional energy," CEO Paul Misso said in a statement. "We have received considerable interest from numerous electric users in Northern California and will soon have many of our units serving customers."

The turbines connect to the power grid just like solar technology, with the opportunity to generate power 24 hours a day.
