STOCKTON, Calif. -- KCRA 3 Reports has obtained new information into the federal corruption probe of a former San Joaquin County deputy sheriff.
In court documents unsealed Thursday afternoon, the FBI alleges that Monty McFall, who is accused of accepting brides and kickbacks as a member of the reclamation board, formed a corporation with San Joaquin County Sheriff Baxter Dunn and another man.
The corporation worked on behalf of the Sunlaw Energy Company to try to help them win a bid to build a power plant at the Port of Stockton, according to the documents.
Agents say they believe McFall used undue influence in an effort to block a rival company, Calpine, from placing its bid.
In addition, agents say Dunn spoke out against that rival company at a Board Of Supervisors meeting without disclosing his own financial interest in Sunlaw.
McFall is expected to be released from jail on $400,000 bond. He will be under house arrest and will have strict orders not to have contact with Dunn.
