Layoffs Announced At Bottling Company

POSTED: 5:51 pm PST November 8, 2008
UPDATED: 6:09 pm PST November 8, 2008

A northern California company announced layoffs Saturday.

The Calistoga Beverage Company is laying off 80 workers at its Napa Valley Bottling Plant amid sluggish sales of bottled water.

The layoffs affect about three-quarters of the plant's workers.

Calistoga is owned by Nestle.

Officials said production will be shifted to plants in southern California, where bottling is cheaper than in Calistoga.
