POSTED: 8:41 am PST December 26, 2002
UPDATED: 5:30 pm PST December 26, 2002

The search intensified Thursday for a pregnant Modesto woman who disappeared on the morning of Christmas Eve.

Laci Peterson

A $100,000 reward is being offered in the case.

Laci Peterson, 27, took her dog for a walk in Dry Creek Park near her home about 9:30 Tuesday morning, but later in the day, the dog returned home alone, its leash still attached.

Her purse and sport utility vehicle were left at home.

Investigators have been searching the area on the ground, in the air and by boat. They've even used infrared heat-seeking cameras but have come up empty.

"In talking with her family, this was completely out of her character," Modesto Police Department Det. Al Brocchini said.

Peterson is eight months pregnant with her first child.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Modesto Police Department at (209) 342-6166.
