RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. -- The grand opening of the American River Discovery trail was celebrated Friday morning.
The trail runs along a scenic quarter-mile of bluffs, and features several panels with information about conservation and the many resources of the American River.
Officials said they hope the trail will increase public awareness and appreciation of the American River."It's just been absolutely amazing to see the numbers of people once we opened the trail ... we see the flow of people and that's the point," state Department of Fish and Game spokeswoman Meg Grow said.The trail officially opens Oct. 9 in conjunction with the eight annual American River Salmon Festival in Rancho Cordova.
