SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A series of armed robberies in downtown and midtown Sacramento has put women on alert.

Authorities believe the same man is responsible for attacks on June 22, June 24 and June 26.

The second victim said that the man walked up to her car and took her cash, jewelry and car keys. And the latest victim said the man jammed his handgun into her stomach before taking off with her money.

"This fits sort of that stereotype of somebody that's utilizing drugs or has a drug problem," said Sacramento Police Department spokesman Justin Risley. "If that's the case, this is somebody who is going to continue to need to feed that habit."

News of the robberies has people in the area on alert.

"We usually travel in twos ... I usually don't go alone when I'm just walking in the neighborhood ... even during the day," said Linda Gaspard, who works in the midtown area.

The man is described as black, in his mid-20's to mid-30's, standing 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inches and weighing 180 to 215 pounds. Authorities said the man has a large build and dark complexion with short dark hair.

The victims stated that the man was relatively clean-cut and well dressed.

The man was described during one of the crimes as wearing a yellow, blue and white striped shirt with clear "J -Lo"-style sunglasses and blue jeans.
