Assemblyman Dave Jones will run for a third and final term in the State Assembly.

"It's an honor and a privilege to represent our community in the State Assembly," Jones said Wednesday in a prepared statement. "I look forward to asking voters to allow me to continue serving as their representative."

Jones, D-Sacramento, has authored 33 bills signed into law. He was first elected to the Assembly in 2004.

Jones chairs the Assembly Judiciary Committee and serves on several other standing committees of the Assembly.

Prior to serving in the Assembly, Jones served for five years as a Sacramento City Councilmember, for three years as a senior advisor to United States Attorney General Janet Reno and for five years as a legal aid lawyer.
