Obama Casts Vote In Chicago, McCain In Phoenix

Voters Turn Out In Record Numbers

Voters are turning out in record numbers to choose the nation's next president and the presidential nominees were taking nothing for granted -- both hit the campaign trail.

Both presidential candidates were campaigning down to the wire Tuesday, trying to sway voters their way.

Sen. Barack Obama -- up early with his wife and daughters to cast his ballot in Chicago.

Then, the Democratic presidential nominee made a stop at an Indianapolis call center to urge voters to the polls.

Obama's running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, cast his vote in Wilmington, Del., with his mother by his side.

Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain voted in Phoenix with his wife. He spent part of the day on the campaign trail rallying voters in Colorado and New Mexico.

His running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, was in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska.

For the candidates, voting was a breeze. But for other voters across the nation, they braved long lines. Voter turnout is expected to reach record highs during this historic election. The lines in battleground states like Virginia snaked outside polling stations.

Computer glitches reported in some states backed up polling lines even more. Voters at a polling station in Alexandria, Va.,were lucky.

"It was a little long but it went a lot faster than I expected. I waited an hour and a half," one voter said.

Obama will watch election results Tuesday night in Chicago. McCain will be in Phoenix. Their running mates will be with them.
