ROSEVILLE, Calif. -- Tom McClintock declared victory in the race for the Fourth District congressional seat, but challenger Charlie Brown isn't conceding.McClintock made his announcement Monday in Roseville before a crowd of supporters.McClintock is 1,576 votes ahead of Brown, out of 367,510 votes counted.
But Brown announced that his campaign would take the next two days to go over disqualified provisional and absentee ballots before making any final decision.McClintock maintains his lead is insurmountable."When the final votes were counted, it was the people of the Fourth Congressional District who made the decision to stand by our traditional American principles of individual freedom and limited government," McClintock said. " And it will be my honor to carry that message to the 111th Congress of the United States."Counties have until close of business Tuesday to finish counting, and then the secretary of state's office has until Dec. 13 to certify the results.
