ROUGH And READY ISLAND, Calif. -- Authorities who are looking for clues into the murder of a Sacramento attorney and the whereabouts of his wife, served a search warrant Thursday that might provide new evidence.
Investigators searched murder victim Laurence McNabney's horse trailer on Rough And Ready Island in the San Joaquin Delta Thursday. It's the last place McNabney was seen alive.
"We are looking for something that would tell us where Mr. McNabney met his demise," San Joaquin County Sheriff's Sgt. Robert Moreno said. What makes the trailer interesting is the fact that the it was supposed to be shipped back to the manufacturer to correct a defect, but all kinds of personal items were left inside.
Authorities received information that McNabney's wife, Elisa McNabney, had plans to rendezvous with the trailer en route as it was being driven back to the manufacturer in Oklahoma.Authorities found a computer during the search that might lead to a break in the investigation."Perhaps, electronic communication such as e-mail. Those would be items that we would be very interested in, in order to help us obtain a clear picture as to what happened here," San Joaquin County Sheriff's Det. Steven Van Meter said.
Authorities said that they do not have any idea where Elisa McNabney is, and they are continuing to question the driver who was hired to drive the trailer out of state because Elisa McNabney hired him.
