SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. -- The search for the prime suspect in the murder of a Sacramento attorney took another turn Friday after detectives released never before seen pictures of the victim's wife.
Murder victim Laurence McNabney's wife, Elisa McNabney, asked a local hair stylist to change her hair color and alter her appearance, according to authorities.
"The hairdresser was asked to color her hair, add brown coloring as well as blonde highlights to her hair," San Joaquin County Sheriff's Det. Steve VanMeter said.
The new photos also show that she has a tattoo on her left arm.
"Tattoos are very time consuming, very painful to be removed. Of course, there would be a trace of it on the skin if it were recently removed," VanMeter said.
Investigators Thursday searched Laurence McNabney's horse trailer on Rough And Ready Island in the San Joaquin Delta. It's the last place McNabney was seen alive.
"We are looking for something that would tell us where Mr. McNabney met his demise," San Joaquin County Sheriff's Sgt. Robert Moreno said.
What makes the trailer interesting is the fact that the it was supposed to be shipped back to the manufacturer to correct a defect, but all kinds of personal items were left inside.
Authorities received information that McNabney's wife, Elisa McNabney, had plans to rendezvous with the trailer en route as it was being driven back to the manufacturer in Oklahoma.
Authorities found a computer during the search that might lead to a break in the investigation.
"Perhaps, electronic communication such as e-mail. Those would be items that we would be very interested in, in order to help us obtain a clear picture as to what happened here," San Joaquin County Sheriff's Det. Steven Van Meter said.
Authorities said that they do not have any idea where Elisa McNabney is, and they are continuing to question the driver who was hired to drive the trailer out of state because Elisa McNabney hired him.
