SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento police officer Darryl Rosen was arraigned Wednesday afternoon on charges he raped a woman and assaulted several women while on duty.During a brief court appearance, a Sacramento judge charged Rosen with 17 felony and misdemeanor counts, including rape, sexual battery, assault by a public officer and false imprisonment.
In affidavit obtained by KCRA 3 Reports, the victims tell their stories of the alleged sexual assaults while in Rosen's custody. The alleged crimes occurred between the fall of 2000 and December 2001.The charges involve five women and a teenage girl. The 16-year-old girl said Rosen raped her in the back seat of his patrol car after she had been arrested and was in handcuffs. The woman said they encountered Rosen during probation searches or when he placed them under arrest. Several claim he forced them to touch him.Rosen was placed on paid administrative leave late last year when an internal police investigation was launched.
Rosen and his wife, who is also a Sacramento police officer, moved into a home in Lincoln a year ago.A neighbor reacted to the charges."As far as I'm concerned those accusations are just that, accusations, and hopefully there is no truth to them," neighbor Miguel Diaz said.
