GRASS VALLEY, Calif. -- A Grass Valley man accused of a road rage killing has been acquitted on all charges.
Raymond Herve was accused of causing a deadly crash in March 2001.
Investigators said that Herve and another driver were involved in a road rage incident that led to the death of 22-year-old Jesse Roberts. But Herve was acquitted on all charges, and walked out of the courtroom a free man.
Reaction to the verdict was swift.
"I'm glad an innocent man wasn't convicted wrongly," said Herve's friend Beth Grebe.
"It just really makes me angry that (he) basically got away," said Roberts' best friend Rick Bingham.
The driver of the car that actually hit Roberts suffered such severe head injuries that he has not been able to stand trial. Prosecutors said that until his condition changes, the case is essentially over.
